Development Internship

Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. As a Corporate Accountability intern, you will be a part of making change with a powerhouse, member-supported organization, protecting human rights, public health, and the environment from corporate abuse around the world. For 40 years, we have successfully challenged corporations like Nestlé, Exxon, and McDonald’s, securing lifesaving victories in the face of tremendous power, money, and influence. 

We are deeply committed to prioritizing the leadership of those who bear the brunt of corporate abuse: women, people of color, low-income people, people in the Global South, and LGBTQ folks around the world. As such, these people are strongly encouraged to apply for our internships program.

Our internships are a unique opportunity for you to gain valuable campaigning and nonprofit experience, cultivate your interests in social justice, strengthen your understanding of a fast-paced campaign organization, and gain critical skills and experience.  

As a Development Intern, you will work with our team of fundraisers and membership outreach staff as they organize and engage our members across the country in support of our campaigns. You will also help build and refine our list of current and potential major donors to support Corporate Accountability campaigns.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with members and respond to member information requests;
  • Lead and track efforts to cultivate members and develop their understanding of our campaigns;
  • Support administrative systems, including updating member records and organizing member data;
  • Conduct philanthropic and prospect research; 
  • Help design and coordinate special mailings to members; 
  • Assist in the creation of face to face fundraising materials; 
  • Participate in campaign and organizational building activities.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to  human rights, the environment, and public health;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially on the phone;
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, professional demeanor and the ability to juggle several tasks while meeting deadlines;
  • Experience or interest in organizing or fundraising;
  • Research experience or knowledge of Lexis-Nexis and other research tools is a plus.  

Details:
Location: Campaign headquarters, Boston, MA 

Duration: Spring internships run from late January through early May.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. The organization will provide $250 for transportation for the summer program, and $200 for the Fall and Spring program. Current students are encouraged to seek out course credit and/or funding from their campus for their internship.   

Training: Orientation and ongoing trainings will be provided by senior campaign staff. Exposure to campaign strategy, planning, and development continues throughout the term.
